Going techno?
This time, I'll take a break from making reviews about some rock bands. (Only for this moment) Now, let me discuss this time about the best Norwegian techno/funk bands in the world. Royksopp: is an electronic duo based on Tromso,Norway (Sorry,I dont have accent marks...I'm too lazy to use the Character Map),Torbjorn Brundtland and Svein Berge make up Royksopp. They are officially active since 1998 until present, and released their album, Melody A.M. in 2001. Royksopp means "Mushroom Cloud" or "Smoke Mushroom" in Norwegian. Many of their songs are used in TV commercials in America. Their track Eple was licensed by Apple and used as the company's welcome music for the Mac OS X Panther. Eple is Apple in Norweigan. And it was my first favorite song from them, though it's instrumental. Their song "Remind Me" was used in Geico commercial. Geico is a car insurance company in the US. Their second studio album "The Understanding" was released in 2005, but I like the "Melody A.M." better. Most of their songs are instrumental and they are not boring, they'll keep you awake and feels like you're drifting through outerspace because of their unique use of synthesizers and cool electric drum beats. Datarock: From Bergen,Norway. Composed of Fredrik Saroea and Ketill Mosnes.Started on 2003 and still active until now, well known in Norway and some parts of the world for their red tracksuits, funky songs that will take you back to the 80's. They are an electronica dance rock band.According to their interview, Fredrik mentioned that in Norway, they call a computer "a data machine.",that's why they call themselves DATAROCK. I found this band through imeem just last year. They have an album entitled "DATAROCK DATAROCK",and they currently have an online contest at http://www.fluevog.com/files_2/contest-datarock.html I liked some of their songs like "Fa fa fa" and "Ganguro Girl". Some of their tracks like "I used to dance with my Daddy","Nightflight To Uranus" have double meaning. I really love their tracksuit and if I am living in America or Norway, I would love to buy their red tracksuit. ^_^ Another thing I liked from them is they are involved in BMX riding. They mentioned it in their track "Bulldozer" that BMX is better than s*x!
